Who Am I?
Hi, my name is Jennifer Millen, and I am a Registered Counsellor based near Wigton, Cumbria.
If you are considering counselling, you are probably experiencing some form of difficulty in your life at the moment. You may be struggling with relationship issues, a lack of meaning or purpose in life, or be living with anxiety, depression, guilt or shame, all influenced by your own unique life experience and context.
I am aware how personal and difficult it can be to find the right counsellor, so I really hope to answer some of your questions to help you in your decision.
My Approach
My core modality is the person-centred approach. This means that I aim to offer you a warm, safe space where I welcome the whole of you and whatever you feel is important. In this space you are free to explore thoughts and feelings. While I cannot advise or guide you, I will be there alongside you to support you without judgement, with acceptance, kindness and compassion. I believe the relationship between the counsellor and client is key in facilitating movement towards one own potential.
I have a variety of expertise having supported individuals in managing their mental health for over 20 years now. In addition to classical face to face counselling I offer outdoor or walk and talk sessions as I believe in the great benefits such environments can offer us. I am also happy to meet clients via online sessions.
What do I Offer?
Ideally, appointments are held weekly. Continuity can be really important, especially within the early stages of counselling. This allows us to develop a trusting relationship where you feel comfortable more quickly, which in turn helps us to focus on the issues that you wish to bring to counselling. However, I appreciate that due to financial, time, or other circumstances, it might not always be possible for you attend on a weekly basis, so I am happy to discuss with you the frequency of the appointments.
Face to Face
Face to face sessions will take place in the comfort of my confidential counselling space based at The Health Collective in Wigton, Cumbria.
Online
Online counselling is where we can connect via a communication platform such as ZOOM. This option offers the benefit of not needing to travel, therefore saving, time and extra costs. It may offer some a greater sense of security or safety.
Outdoor/Walk and Talk
Outdoor sessions or walk and talk sessions, take place in beautiful locations within the Allerdale District of Cumbria. This will be discussed and agreed upon first.

Prices
Initial online or telephone consultation - 20mins - FREE
Face to Face Individual Sessions - £50 per hour
Walk and Talk/ Outdoor Sessions - £50 per hour
Online Sessions - £45 per hour
